Naija Independence Parade NYC

It was a cold fall day on Saturday as Nigerians living in Newyork walked the streets of Manhattan to celebrate the annual Independence parade. The fact that it rained earlier in the day and the cold weather still did not keep hundreds of young people away as the were looking forward to a performance from the Koko master, Dbanj who was billed to perform. However the crowd was shocked when at 5:30pm, organizers said they had to shut down the show because that was the time the permit expired. Most people thought it was a joke until the crowd started to walk away. Dbanj then got on the stage and was swarmed by the audience. Some thought he would sing but to the surprise. The show was actually over and Dbanj was escorted away without performing. Some of the young people in the audience were so vexed they had to be stopped by organizers as they were about to start throwing bottles.
